A MAN aged in his 20s has died in a tragic forklift accident at a factory in Co. Kildare.

The incident occurred at a facility on the Dublin Road near to Kildare Town yesterday afternoon, gardaí have confirmed.

It is understood that the man, a Moldovan national in his early 20s, had only recently moved to Ireland and was working at Kildare Chilling Company.

He was involved in a workplace accident at around 2.40pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident involved the man coming into contact with a fully loaded forklift, according to the Leinster Leader.

“He was due to get his first pay cheque the day he died,” a source told the newspaper.

No one else was injured.
