Young woman tragically dies in car crash in Co Louth

A WOMAN has tragically died following a car crash in Co Louth. 

The woman, who was in her 30s, died in a single-vehicle collision that took place on the N2 road between Ardee and Carrickmacross just before 9pm on the evening of Saturday, November 21. 

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

Her body was subsequently removed and transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem is due to take place. 

The N2 at Glebe road was temporarily closed in both directions while Gardaí conduct a technical examination of the scene of the collision. 

Gardaí are now appealing for help locating the occupants of a white car seen travelling from the direction of Carrickmacross towards Ardee at approximately 8.50pm. 

That have asked that anyone who was driving or an occupant of the vehicle get in touch. 

Officers are also appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward or, specifically, any road users who may have camera footage and happened to be travelling in the area that night.

Failing that, they can also contact their local Garda Station to relay any information that could prove pertinent to the incident.
