Celtic fans have poked fun at Rangers for becoming the 'worst Champions League group stage team ever' this week

FANS OF CELTIC have mocked Rangers fans for their dismal performance in this year's Champions League

Yesterday Rangers lost 3-1 to Ajax in the Champions League, which meant that the blue half of Glasgow ended their 6 group games with 6 defeats, 2 Goals Scored, and 22 Goals conceded.

Pummelling's against Napoli, Liverpool, and Ajax resulted in a disaster of a campaign for the Ger's

After the loss to Dutch giants Ajax yesterday Rangers have now statically become the worst group stage side in Champions League history for their displays.

The previous horror record belonged to Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2011/12.

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst speaking after the game said: "It’s disappointing. We’ve had a lot of disappointing experiences in Europe with a lot of big losses. It started really well with those big wins against Union (Saint-Gilloise) and PSV (Eindhoven) to qualify for the Champions League. But after playing these six games you can see the difference in levels with the teams we competed against.

“It was very difficult for us to get results. It’s always difficult because you know the gap is there, but you don’t want to concede as many goals as we have. Against teams of the highest quality, we have struggled in those moments. It’s a big learning experience for us.

“I have competed in this competition; I have won this competition, so I know the other side. Now I face the other side with a team that is not on the same level yet. We have seen that against Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax. Teams who have been operating at this level for years, teams who have been to the final and won the final.

Celtic who plays Real Madrid tonight cannot make it out of their group either, but many argue that at least the green and white club have been competitive

Celtic fans saw the funny side in their rivals dismal record after the full time whistle blew at Ibrox.

One user on social media said: "Can throw that trophy into the cabinet next to the “we should’ve won the Europa League” trophy too."

While another said: Well, they’ve not done bad for a 10-year-old club to be fair.

And another added: "Well done rangers on the winning the worst team cup a massive achievement I don’t think will ever happen again"

Celtic's game against Real Madrid begins at 8 tonight. They cannot qualify for the Europa League as Shakhtar Donetsk have to many points.
