Dara McGuinness, a Ireland U18 player has joined Michael O'Neill at Stoke City

DARA McGuinness, Ireland Under-18s international has transferred from Shamrock Rovers to Stoke City.  

McGuinness will feature for Stoke's Under-21s team next season in Premier League 2 Division Two.  

A native from Athlone, the teenager has spent the last three campaigns at the League of Ireland champions second side, Shamrock Rovers II as well as Rovers Under 17s and Under 19s. 

'Shamrock Rovers academy twitter account said: We can today confirm the transfer of striker Dara McGuinness to @stokecity.' 

Shamrock Rovers academy director Shane Robinson added: "Dara has been unbelievable since coming to the club in 2020," 

"His appetite for hard work and his dedication to train and constantly improve has been brilliant to watch. We wish him every success on his move to Stoke and hope to see him continue his development." 



 

McGuinness began his junior career at St Joseph's FC in Athlone. before moving to Dublin side Belvedere, before joining St Patrick's Athletic and then Shamrock Rovers. 

Former Rovers boss  Michael O'Neillnow has a number of Irish players on his books that include players and staff.  

Rory Delap is the current first team coach at Stoke, while Gavin Kilkenny is on loan from Bournemouth.
