David Clifford will be Kerry's captain in 2023

KERRY SUPERSTAR DAVID CLIFFORD will captain the All-Ireland champions for the 2023 football season for the second time.

This will be the second-time the current Footballer of the Year has been handed the famous armband.

The 23-year-old first wore the band in 2020.

The news today was confirmed via Twitter.

His name was put forward for the captaincy by East Kerry, who have the right to nominate the captain as county champions.

"David Clifford has been nominated by the East Kerry Board as the Kerry Captain for 2023 - wishing David and all the team the best of luck," said the official Kerry Twitter account.

Clifford helped East Kerry to this year’s Kerry Championship and was nominated by the East Kerry Board as Jack O’Connor’s skipper for next season.

He also won Allianz League, Munster and All-Ireland SFC titles with Kerry as well as claiming a fourth All-Star and being crowned Footballer of the Year.
