Dublin talent search underway for Aussie Rules stars

THE Australian Football League is this week running the rule over Irish and British athletes in Dublin as it looks for top talent to make the move Down Under.

Kerry GAA and Aussie Rules star Tadhg Kennelly is leading the hunt for the next Irish Aussie Rules star as Dublin City University hosts a Combine trial.

Kennelly, a former player with Sydney Swans and a 2009 All-Ireland winner, is overseeing the trial, where 23 athletes are will be tested for agility, vertical jump, endurance, speed and skills.

He said: “These tests are the same as those conducted in Australia and enable us to compare athletes from all over the world.”

Two of the 23 participants will be chosen for the draft combine in October.
