Eddie Hearn has claimed that a deal for Katie Taylor to fight in Croke Park is getting closer

LEGENDARY BOXING PROMOTER Eddie Hearn has claimed today that Katie Taylor's long awaited fight in Croke Park is becoming more and more likely.

Despite her success in the ring Taylor has not fought in Ireland during her professional career.

After her fight with Amanda Serrano in New York in April talk and speculation has been rife about a homecoming fight in Ireland's capital city.

However, a fight never came and Taylor fought the Argentine Karen Elizabeth Carabajal in Wembley in October.

Matchroom promoter Hearn has been calling for Taylor to get a fight in her home country for some time and today he's confirmed that a fight agreement in Dublin is getting closer.

Speaking via an Instagram post, the promoter said a rematch between Serrano could be on the cards

Taylor won the first fight via split points verdict in Madison Square Garden

"Katie Taylor at Croke Park, basically we’re all over it. It’s the only thing we want to do. We’re negotiating at the moment with Most Valuable Promotions. We’re closing in on a deal.

“Serrano could fight for undisputed [featherweight champion] as well against Erika Cruz in early February. We want to make it happen. Croke Park, we’re doing everything we can and I think we’ll make it happen.”

Speaking earlier this year Northampton native Chantelle Cameron, a world champion in two weight classes also called the Bray native out.

Cameron first asked Taylor if she'd like to fight next St. Patrick's Day.

March 17th Croke Park Katie Taylor Undisputed v Undisputed If the Serrano rematch doesn't happen. I’ll be free," she said via a tweet

A few days later Cameron called Taylor out again saying: ""I was unified world champion, now I'm undisputed. I think I've proved myself that I'm worthy of fighting Katie Taylor," said Cameron.

"She's boxed people that haven't had those credentials and there's been nothing said.

It's just the fight has happened whereas with me it's always been 'she's got to do this, she's got to do that, this and that' whereas now what's left?.

"I've done it so now we can fight."

Taylor responded to the call-out by saying: " I have no problem stepping up and facing either of those girls.

"I obviously fought Jessica and beat her before [in 2017] and I fought Chantelle as an amateur boxer as well. So I have no problem going up and facing either one of them. That would be a fantastic fight."
