This evening, Rhasidat Adeleke is all set to compete in the 400m final at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest. She will step onto the track with the aim of etching her name in history by clinching a world medal at the remarkable age of 20.

For those unfamiliar with Adeleke, she is an Irish sprinter renowned for her track achievements. She secured victory in both the 100 meters and 200 meters events at the 2021 European Athletics Under-20 Championship held in Estonia.

Adeleke also etched her name in history as the first Irish female athlete to surpass the 50-second mark in the 400 meters during the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Texas. Her excellence extends to holding six Irish national records, spanning various distances and indoor/outdoor categories. These records include the 60 meters indoors, 200 meters indoors and outdoors, 300 meters indoors, and both the 400 meters indoors and outdoors.

Shortly after this, the Dubliner signed a professional deal and joined forces with the sportswear giant Nike.
