Irish Abroad: Walters' double seals third round place for Stoke City

Jon Walters scored twice in Stoke City’s 3-0 victory over League Two side Portsmouth. The Ireland international netted on either side of the half before Peter Crouch added a third in the 90th minute.

18-year-old Jack Grealish started for hosts Aston Villa in last night’s clash with League One side Leyton Orient. The home side exited the tournament after goalkeeper Shay Given could not prevent the visitors from sealing a 1-0 victory.

Sunderland scored three second-half goals to defeat Championship side Birmingham City, with Ireland defender John O’Shea playing his part in sending his team through to the third round.

Adam McGurk netted the winner after curling in a 20-yard free-kick in Burton Albion’s win over QPR. The Northern Irish player tested visitng goalkeeper Brian Murphy early on in the game, eventually knocking QPR out of the second round.
