Irish Grand National winning horse Our Duke dies after suffering heart attack

HORSE TRAINER Jessica Harrington has announced the death of Irish Grand National winner Our Duke.

The eight-year-old suffered a heart attack after its routine morning training this morning.

Our Duke had won the Fairyhouse showpiece as a novice last season and had an uninterrupted campaign this season.

His last run came in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but he did not perform with any fluency and was pulled up.

The much-loved horse won six of his 13 races, amassing nearly £350,000 in career earnings.
