Mid-Week Betting Tips: Hollie Point ready to make impact at Kempton

Our tipster Karl Hedley provides the odds for the week’s races

WEDNESDAY

KEMPTON

5-10        32RED ON THE APP STORE MAIDEN FILLIES STAKES – 7 FURLONGS

Hollie Point has been unfortunate not to land a maiden before now but now makes her polytrack debut. She has gone close at Newcastle, Beverley and Catterick in her most recent starts and that looks to be the best form on offer here. Godolphin have been winning races like this for fun throughout the winter and Martin Lane has a useful strike rate when teaming up with Charlie Appleby. Despite a few months off the track the duo have plenty of experience to fall back on and they should go well here.

Trikasana made a decent enough racecourse debut and despite being beaten around six lengths, she can be expected to show a lot more this time around. Ryan Tate is able to claim a useful three pounds from her and if Hollie Point fails to live up to expectations she may well be the main profiteer. Clive Cox has had three winners from his last six runners so the yard are clearly in form and she looks the likeliest danger. James Fanshawe also tends to do well with his runners at Kempton and Angel Delight will improve on whatever she shows today. Hollie Point is a daughter of Dubawi and he gets plenty of winners on this surface. It would be of little surprise to finally see her shed her maiden status and get off the mark here.

6-40        32RED CASINO HANDICAP – 1 M 3 F

Archies Advice is in the form of his life and has won three of his last four career starts. His two most recent wins have come at this track and the way he has finished his races suggests that this extra furlong is unlikely to prove too problematic. Joe Fanning was on board for that most recent win and he is once again booked to ride this evening. The yard tend not to send their horses all the way here for the fresh air and he has every right to be involved at the finish.

Salmon Sushi has been rejuvenated under George Baker and it noticeable that he is once again scheduled to ride this evening. He is still only lightly raced and it is far from impossible that he could yet improve again on what he has shown to date. He does have to give weight away all around this evening but he does look the biggest threat to the selection. Innoko also comes here in decent form having won at Dundalk for Joseph O’ Brien. Luke Morris has won on him in the past, but he looks in the grasp of the handicapper at present. Archies Advice is still only a four year old and we may not have seen the best of him and he is the selection in a tightly knit handicap.

THURSDAY

LEICESTER

1-40        WL AND HECTOR CHRISTIE MEMORIAL TROPHY – 2 MILES

Pearls Legend has improved on each start this season and has now dropped back to his last winning mark. He ran a creditable second to Malibu Sun over this course and distance last time and now that he comes here cherry ripe, he has to be high on any shortlist. Jamie Moore is the only jockey to have recorded a win on the eight year old and today he is reunited with John Spearing’s gelding for the first time since last April. He has only ever won on soft ground, so any rainfall would increase his chances of success.

Midnight Chorister recorded a first ever career success at Fakenham last time and may well improve now that he has finally found some confidence. Kielan Woods is on board once again and they could well prove a threat as they are set to receive almost half a stone from the selection. Parting Way seems to have shown enough improvement in his most recent starts to suggest that he too can make the frame. Richard Johnson is certainly a notable jockey booking for the seven year old but he remains a maiden after seven starts for Tim Vaughan and may need further than this.  Pearls Legend can make the most of his previous course and distance experience and can go close here.

FRIDAY

DONCASTER

1-00        BETDAQ % MULTIPLES FOR FIRST MONTH NOVICES CHASE – 2 M 110YDS

Josses Hill is already featuring highly in Cheltenham ante-post markets and he should be able to make his presence felt here. He was far from disgraced when beaten nine lengths by Ptit Zig at Ascot last month and that form was given a boost following a romp at Cheltenham by the winner on New Year’s day. He should come in plenty for that reappearance and the return to two miles should certainly be in his favour. Barry Geraghty is booked to ride and although unlikely to be much of a price, they should prove tough nuts to crack.

Cheltenian looks set to make his seasonal debut this afternoon and he looks the pick of the opposition. He won the champion bumper at Cheltenham a couple of seasons ago and was quite useful over hurdles too. This is his first go at fences in public but he is likely to have schooled well and given the form of the Philip Hobbs yard, he is unlikely to be too far away. Solar Impulse pulled up at Cheltenham last time out having looked progressive going into the race. If he is fully over those exertions he too could well make the frame. Josses Hill is proven at the highest level and now that he is fully fit he should prove hard to beat.
