Tyson Fury ready to rock Wladimir Klitschko

TYSON Fury has vowed to ‘rock’ Germany when he travels to Dusseldorf to finally fight heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko on October 24.

The 26-year-old will challenge the dominant Ukrainian for his WBA, IBF and WBO belts having worked his way into the position of mandatory challenger.

Fury, whose father and grandmother hail from Galway and Tipperary respectively, is unbeaten in his 24 fights as a professional, but in Klitschko he faces a 39-year-old who has not lost a bout in 11 years.

Nonetheless, Fury remains confident he can cause an upset, taking to Twitter to label the match-up as “the best fight in heavyweight history.”

London-based Fury fans had hoped the fight, which has been mooted for some time, would take place in the English capital, with Stamford Bridge one of several venues considered during negotiations.

However, a trip across the continent has never deterred Irish sports fans in the past, and Fury is expected to attract a large following in Germany in what is undoubtedly the toughest test of his career.

Both boxers fight with an orthodox stance, but Klitschko’s trademark jab is likely to dictate the fight, with the champion a 1/5 favourite with most bookmakers.
