Vera Pauw has hit back at a troll who made a comment about her husband on Twitter

THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND women's manager Vera Pauw has hit back at an online troll for comments made about her husband.

Pauw, who has led the Irish team to their first ever major tournament posted a long statement about the body-shaming allegations back in December.

A troll commented on the post, saying: "She Married Her Former Head coach Who's 17 Years Older Than Her."

Pauw is married to former Dutch Women's manager Bert van Lingen.

Ireland's manager responded by sharing a picture of a photo of herself and her husband sharing a kiss, with the caption: "Hé pssst, don’t tell anyone, but he is already for 30 yrs the love of my life and my rock."

A number of people backed the Ireland manager up in the comments

One user said: " Love this, you are amazing, ignore the negativity and enjoy every moment of the rest of your career and life."

While another said: "Hey Vera keep doing what ur doing … ur the manager of Ireland women’s team … leave the haters hating sad life they have .. remember Australia 2023 u playing u against the host country in a 80000 seater stadium why because of u and the girls in green."
