VIDEO: How a young migrant went from Portadown to the Premier League

Absolutely fantastic Google advert highlighting the great work done by Portadown F.C. Youth and, of course, the immense potential of Alberto. Well worth a watch!

THE story of former Portadown FC Youth footballer Alberto Balde’s transformation from an underprivileged migrant to being on the verge of a career in the Premier League has been captured in a short video produced by Google.

Earlier this year, The Portadown Times ran a story about Alberto, a Spanish-born footballer who wanted to play with kids his own age, but was unable to communicate this through his lack of English.

After spotting Alberto, Portadown coaches Gary Magee and Glen Traynor used a Google Translate app to communicate with him, allowing the youngster to join in and flourish for their Under 12s side.

Since then, Alberto has developed incredibly well and has since moved from Northern Ireland to England for trials with several Premier League outfits.

After hearing of how their app helped change Alberto’s life, Google produced the above video to celebrate his success.
