WATCH: Croke Park fans pay tribute to tragic teen Darragh Doherty

MAYO and Dublin fans united at Croke Park during Sunday’s drawn All-Ireland semi-final with an emotional applause in memory of the late Darragh Doherty.

Mayo’s former All-Ireland minor winner Doherty died in a car accident outside Ballinrobe on August 23, aged just 19. The Kilmaine forward wore the number 13 jersey when scoring 1-2 in Croke Park as Mayo lifted the Tom Markham Cup in 2013.

And to pay tribute to the youngster, both fans applauded for the duration of the 13th minute of the drawn All-Ireland semi-final, footage of which can be watched above.

In front of a maximum capacity crowd at HQ, Mayo looked dead and buried at six points down with seven minutes remaining, but somehow managed to force a draw. The Westerners dug deep in the final 10 minutes, finding an extra gear that had alluded them for the first hour of the game.

They scored 1-3 without reply – including a 69th minute goal from the penalty spot by Cillian O'Connor – to wipe out Dublin's lead. The sides ended up level with Dublin scoring 2-12 to Mayo’s 1-15 and they’ll replay the fixture at Croke Park on Saturday, with throw-in at 5pm.
