Wes Hoolahan celebrates promotion in most Irish way imaginable

WES HOOLAHAN - a national treasure.

Wes Hoolahan is the personification of the term 'class is permanent'.

He turns 39 in just a few days, and is still showing that he is a level above the other players in League Two.

So much so that he was recently nominated for the League Two player of the year for his excellent performances for Cambridge this season.

And fittingly, he scored a lovely goal to help them get promoted to League One at the weekend, capping off a wonderful season for the Irish footballing legend.

And he celebrated the way any Irishman would - with a lovely pint of Guinness on the pitch:

The popular social media page Beautiful Pints, which is dedicated to well-poured pints of Guinness, also approved of his actions:

Simply put, you love to see it.

Back at the start of April, a bonkers stat emerged showing just how crucial the Dubliner is to Cambridge's side.

At his age, Wessi only plays at the weekend, as playing two games a week is not an option. Since Saint Stephen's Day, on Saturdays, his team Cambridge had played 14 times. The results? 11 wins, three draws.

In the midweek games, in which Wes had not played, they had won one, and lost five.

Madness.

Congrats Wes!
