VIDEO EDITOR / RESEARCHER

Central London (within walking distance of Aldgate, Liverpool Street and Fenchurch Street stations)

£20,000 to £24,000 DOE + attractive benefits package

The Irish Post is seeking an internet savvy video editor / researcher to hunt out videos before they go viral, acquire the rights from the owner, negotiate licensing fees, and edit videos to tell a story. The position is for a video junkie with a strong enthusiasm for entertaining, informing and engaging an ever-growing audience. Sales / journalistic experience is a bonus. You must have a hunger to understand what makes The Irish Post audience tick, and what video content engages them.

 

The Irish Post's video editor / researcher should be able to:

  • Find videos before they to go viral
  • Spot trending videos
  • Tracking down and contacting owners of videos to secure rights for licensing, and negotiate fees where appropriate
  • Provide prompt phone/email follow-up to all queries and properly document and track activity
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key content creators, influencers, and licensing partners
  • Add subtitles, graphics and other assets to videos
  • Add narrative text to video to tell a visual story
  • Caption a video for a large social media audience
  • Update and maintain a detailed database of licenses

 

They should have:

At least two years professional experience researching and editing viral video, and have:

  • Internet savvy and strong social media knowledge
  • Excellent spelling, grammatical and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Working knowledge of media copyright law
  • Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and fact-checking
  • Be highly organised and able to expertly multitask
  • Have a competitive spirit, high energy and positive attitude
  • React quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy working as part of a small, hard-working team

A knowledge of the Irish community/audience is an advantage
