Construction industry supplier delivers thousands of PPE items to delighted NHS staff

A LONDON firm supplying materials to the construction industry has turned its attentions to the under-pressure NHS amid the coronavirus crisis.

Headquartered in Kilburn, north London, MP Moran and Sons has delivered thousands of items of personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals across the city to help as they battle Covid-19 on the frontline.

The Irish-founded firm, which is a leading supplier to the capital’s building and plumbing trades, have also launched an online fundraising campaign to allow them to purchase even more equipment to donate to the health service.

Launching their effort on March 26, Mp Moran and Sons Operations Director Bart Murphy called for the people of Britain to “Support our NHS Heros”.

“I’m Bart Murphy and together with my wife Marisa, we’re on a mission to support and protect our amazing NHS staff who are working on the front lines battling Covid19 24/7 and they have no PPE,” he explained.

“They are running out of scrubs, masks, gloves, eye protection and shoe covers.

“These are basic essentials, needed now to protect the NHS from coronavirus,” he added.

“We have all shown our support by clapping, now let’s show our support by getting them the essential equipment they need to keep them safe.”

Doctors, nurses and midwives from Barnet Hospital were delighted to receive vital protective equipment donated by MP Moran and Sons.

Since then Mr Murphy’s team have delivered 12,000 pairs of gloves, 650 pairs of eye protection glasses and 100 cover-all protective suits to the NHS.

They have also collected a further 500 bottles of hand sanitiser and 300 pairs of safety glasses to deliver, while the firm has 600 visors, 600 shoe protectors and 2,000 masks on order.

Alongside this their fundraising campaign has been steadily growing and now boasts more than £8,000 in total.

Regarding those funds, Mr Murphy explained.

“We are going to use all funds raised to buy essential personal protective equipment for NHS staff and distribute it immediately.

“I am fortunate enough to have worked in the construction industry for nearly 20 years and I’m going to use my network, knowledge and experience to help the NHS with vital supplies.”

He added: “Please help me to help them.”

The NHS services that have benefitted from the donations by Mp Moran and Sons are Hillingdon Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital, Northwood District Nurses and the London Ambulance Service.
