Champion traditional Irish dance teacher launches sustainable Christmas gift offering 'memories that last'

A CHAMPION Irish dancer who launched an online school during lockdown has created a special Christmas offering which provides a sustainable option for culture fans this year.

Emma O’Sullivan may be best known for her street performance videos – which have been shared by over 20 million viewers worldwide – but she also teaches traditional Irish dance through her hugely popular zoom classes.

During lockdown, the west of Ireland native launched her online school, sharing her talents with students across the world.

The All Ireland Champion has a passion for the sean-nós style - a percussive discipline where steps are danced close to the floor, making it ideal for dancers of all ages.

Her students range from school age to a pupil who is well into her 90s.

With the festive season fast approaching, Emma has launched a Christmas gift voucher and is encouraging her fans to choose a dance experience when shopping for loved ones this year.

“Christmas is one of the most wonderful times of the year, however it can have a negative impact on the environment,” she explained.

“We will generate over 70,000 tonnes of used packaging over the season -  25 per cent more than we do during the year.

“These days many people have so many ‘things’ but this is an opportunity to give someone an experience with memories that will last.”

She added: “Instead of giving a gift that may never be used and may end up in landfill, you can help a loved one learn a new skill, get creative and connect with a worldwide community of dancers who are passionate about Irish culture.”

Ms O’Sullivan offers special group/family rates so that you can get moving together, start a new adventure and enjoy a great way to kick start your new year resolutions.

Vouchers can be redeemed for online courses, workshops and weekend retreats.
