Andrew Scott comedy The Stag to get UK cinema release

NEW Irish comedy The Stag has received a UK cinema release and will be screened nationwide from March 14

The feature film stars Sherlock actor Andrew Scott who joins in on a bachelor party weekend in the Irish countryside that encounters some unexpected detours, in novelist and screenwriter John Butler’s feature directing debut.

Amy Huberman (Threesome) plays concerned bride-to-be Ruth, who persuades best man Davin to organise a stag do for her fiance, Fionan.

The self-confessed metrosexual husband-to-be is played by Hugh O’Conor (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook, My Left Foot).

Best man Davin faces one huge obstacle in pulling off an incredible stag do - Ruth’s infamously alpha male brother (Peter McDonald), known as ‘The Machine’.

‘The Machine’ manages to gatecrash the sober walking-weekend in rural Ireland and what ensues is a hilarious weekend of fear, male bonding, nudity and tightly fashioned squirrel skin!

The cast also includes Brian Gleeson (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Eagle of the Ninth), Andrew Bennett (Angela’s Ashes) and Michael Legge (Channel 4’s Shameless).
