Clannad and Mary Black
Symphony Hall
Birmingham

★★★ (out of five)

FEW will have enjoyed a more special St Patrick’s evening concert than that from Clannad and Mary Black at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall last month.

Opening their set with tracks from their new album, Nádúr, which translates as ‘nature’, you could have heard a pin drop as the mystical nature of Clannad's haunting sounds silenced the audience.

It was, however, St Patrick’s Day, so a sing-a-long was always on the cards.

The audience were willing and ready and came in full voice when Black performed some of her most-loved numbers before joining Clannad to end a mesmerising night on a high.
