Jack Reynor up for IFTA Rising Star award

RISING Irish actor Jack Reynor is among the nominees for this year’s Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Rising Star award

Selected by a special jury, Reynor has been nominated for his breakthrough performance in Lenny Abrahamson’s What Richard Did.

He is the only actor nominated and faces competition from Co Kerry filmmaker Gerard Barrett (Pilgrim Hill), husband and wife directing duo Lisa Barros D'sa & Glenn Leybourn (Good Vibrations) and director Ciaran Foy (Citadel).

Previous Rising Star recipients include the John Michael McDonagh (The Guard); Domhnall Gleeson (When Harvey Met Bob); Michael Fassbender (Shame) and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement).

Reynor, who was recently cast in the forthcoming Transformers movie, said of his nomination:  “I am really delighted and feel very lucky to have been nominated for any award at all”.

The IFTAs take place in Dublin on Saturday, February 9.
