Rea joins McTeer and Gyllenhaal in BBC thriller The Honourable Woman

OSCAR-nominee Stephen Rea is to join Janet McTeer and Maggie Gyllenhaal in BBC Two’s new seven-part thriller The Honourable Woman.

The series which will air next year is described by the BBC as a “fast paced, labyrinthine thriller set against an international political backdrop,” of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Belfast native Rea will play an MI6 spy who is about to retire, while McTeer has been cast as the boss of MI6.

Gyllenhaal will play the daughter of an arms dealer who emerges into a successful businesswoman.

The series is written and directed by Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line) and production will get underway in London next week.

The series is expected to be broadcast in 2014.
