Irish presenter Angela Scanlon welcomes baby girl and the name is a perfect fit

TV presenter Angela Scanlon has welcomed a baby girl, announcing the news on social media.

The One Show and Robot Wars host announced last November that she was six months pregnant and that her baby to arrive in the springtime.

“So, I’ve been baking for six months now… and I’ve made a bun!” she wrote at the time.

“It’s currently in the oven and will be ready by springtime.

“We are so, SO thrilled (since I’ve taken my head out of the toilet bowl) and can’t wait to welcome a mad, wonderful little human into our world.”

She also revealed she had one wish for the imminent arrival. “Really hoping he/she is ginger,” she wrote.

Taking to Instagram today, the Meath native shared news of her baby's arrival on Sunday, February 25.

And while we're yet to find out if the new addition is a red head, baby Scanlon's name could certainly be taken as a nod to her mum's love of all things ginger.

"Ruby Ellen Horgan... Born 25.02.18 at 3.29am - she is a dreamboat & we are so happy this little woman is ours," the presenter wrote posting a photo of her baby's feet and a toy rabbit with the name Ruby on it."

"Welcome to the world, peach," she added.

Congratulations!
