Who are Ireland's richest musicians? New list reveals all

IRELAND'S RICHEST musicians have been revealed in an updated Sunday Times Music Rich List.

U2 have come out in second position overall with combined worth of €739 million, with former One Direction member Niall Horan taking the title of Ireland's richest young musician, worth £52 million.

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran places 10th on the annual list of UK and Irish artists with an estimated total wealth of £260 million, while Paul McCartney, 79, claims number one in the rankings with a fortune of £865 million, which he shares with his American wife Nancy Shevell.

However, the Sunday Times' list compilers believe Sheeran may beat him to £1 billion if he continues his current trajectory.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, 74, has seen his wealth drop by £30 million to £495 million amid the impact of Covid-19 on the theatre world, but is still at number three.

Elton John, Sting and Mick Jagger each also appear in the top ten.

As for younger musicians, Horan's former bandmate Harry Styles, who just released his third album Harry's House, takes the top spot with a value of £100 million.

The remaining three members, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Says Malik take the fifth, sixth and seventh spots respectively.

Pop-star Dua Lipa, who is currently touring her Future Nostalgia tour, takes the second spot with £60 million, having boosted her fortune by £24 million.

Little Mix, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Lewis Capaldi also appear on the young music rich list.
