Young woman breaks both legs in fall from two-storey warehouse 'while trying to watch Ed Sheeran gig' in Cork

A YOUNG Irish woman is recovering in hospital after she fell from a two-storey building while attempting to watch an Ed Sheeran gig in Cork.

The woman, aged in her 20s, fell from the roof of a warehouse in the Marina area of Cork harbour near Pairc Ui Chaoimh - where Sheeran played three sold-out concerts over the weekend to around 120,000 fans.

It's understood that the young woman did not have a ticket and intended to sit on the roof of the warehouse to enjoy Saturday night's show instead.

However, she accidentally slipped from the roof at around 9pm and fractured both her legs on the concrete below.

Emergency services responded and the woman was brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

Luckily, she is expected to make a full recovery.

The concerts in Cork were the opening trio of a nine-gig Irish tour that will see Sheeran play to almost half a million Irish fans over the next three weeks.

Organisers have hailed the Cork concerts, which are worth an estimated €60 million to the city's economy, as an overwhelming success.
