Villagers to perform at first ever Other Voices festival event at Guinness Storehouse

VILLAGERS ARE set to bring their unique brand of Irish folk pop to the stage at the first ever Other Voices: Home at the Guinness Storehouse.

Conor O’Brien and bandmates are no strangers to the magic of Other Voices, having previously performed on that special stage over in Dingle back in 2012.

A lot has changed since then.

Having risen to prominence with debut album Becoming a Jackal, which drew critical acclaim and a place on the Mercury Prize shortlist of 2010, the band returned with a similarly well-received follow-up in 2013.

{Awaylandwon the Choice Music Price that year, while Villagers also received a second Mercury Prize nomination – a feat almost unheard of in the world of music.

Their third album, 2016’s Darling Arithmetic, was met with more praise, eventually winning the Ivor Novello award for Best Album.

The group generated yet more positive headlines and new fans worldwide after their music featured in the hit HBO drama series Big Little Lies.

They arrive in Dublin for this unique live event ready to showcase exactly what has made Villagers such a consistently popular force among fans and critics alike.

It’s a success built on brilliant songwriting. Always eager to be inventive in their output, the fact is that O’Brien and the band have always prioritised melody alongside invention.

They take to the stage at the Guinness Storehouse eager to showcase their fourth studio album, The Art Of Pretending To Swim.

A special one-off livestream, it’s a chance to see what makes Villagers such a special band to watch live, albeit from the comfort of your sofa.

The band drew high praise for their Spotify session of ‘Nothing Arrived’ which has racked up more than 100 million streams to date.

A showcase of Irish music at its finest, they will take to stage along with an assortment of current Irish acts this coming Wednesday, December 16 – and you’re invited.

Other Voices: Home at the Guinness Storehouse will be broadcast live on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook + RTE.ie from 8pm GMT.
