Flashback 90s video from Friends Nite Club in Mayo reminds us what clubbing used to be like in Ireland

BAD hair cuts, baggy shirts and winning the Eurovision every other year – that was Ireland in the 1990s.

This nostalgic video from a Co. Mayo nightclub takes us back to 1992, when Irish young ones were rocking out to Queen's We Will Rock You, UB40's Red Red Wine and Don McClean's American Pie.

Until the mid-1990s, nightclubs were required by Ireland's Public Health (Alcohol) Bill to serve hot food in order to be granted a late license for alcohol, so if you were clubbing in the 90s you probably remember a few dodgy hamburgers as well as questionable dancing.

The video was filmed in September 1992 as a promotional video for the now defunct Friends Nite Club in the Deanwood Hotel, Ballina.
