9 in 10 Irish parents give their child’s teacher a gift at the end of the school year

A NEW survey has revealed the close relationship between parents and teachers in Irish schools.

The results, collated by One4All surveyed 750 parents, 77% of which said teachers are everyday heroes.

It comes as good news for teachers as 1 in 2 of parents in Ireland (51%) reveal their children love going to school.

To show their appreciation, 9 in 10 parents will give their child’s teacher a gift to mark the end of the school year.

The gifts that Irish parents are choosing to give to their child's teacher included a gift card or voucher being the most popular present of choice (44%), followed by chocolate or sweets (14%) and an ornament or trinket (11%).

Commenting on the survey findings, One4all's marketing manager Aoife Davey, said:

"It’s wonderful to see how much people in Ireland value and appreciate our teachers. It seems that teachers truly are our everyday superheroes and the fact that 71% of respondents would like to go back and thank a childhood teacher if given the opportunity, really reinforces that."
