Couple's romantic surprise almost ruined by random car checkout by PSNI

In Northern Ireland, one couple's surprise weekend getaway was almost ruined when they randomly encountered the PSNI, who were carrying out checks on cars passing by.

According to The Belfast Telegraph, the PSNI stopped one car where a male driver was in the front seat, however, when about to ask the driver where their final destination was, a blindfolded woman in the back seat answered instead. The woman, due to be surprised by her husband pleaded with police "Please don't make him tell you."

The couple were reportedly on their way to celebrate their anniversary and while en route to driving to their celebratory weekend away, were interrupted by the car checks.

Despite the inspection of the car, a police officer confessed they didn't ask any extra information once they realised they were en route to their surprise. The police said: "Needless to say we didn't ruin the surprise by pressing him...but we would love to know where you were going?

They asked that if the couple were reading, to make sure to get in touch

"...So if you're reading this please let us know where you ended up. We hope you had a lovely time."
