Eleven Irish designers to showcase SS16 collections at London Fashion Week

A GROUP of 11 Irish fashion designers will showcase their work at London Fashion Week later this month as part of the Irish Design 2015’s international programme.

Unfold will be presented at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) on September 18-19 unveiling the SS16 collections of NATALIEBCOLEMAN, We Are Islanders, Emma Manley,
Jill de Burca, Helen Steele, Honor Fitzsimons, Chupi, Maria Dorai Raj, Laura Kinsella, Martha Lynn and Capulet & Montague.

ID2015 Chief Executive Karen Hennessy said providing emerging designers with opportunities to present their work globally is vital to sustaining and growing the Irish fashion sector.

“These designers have the ambition and capability to expand into international markets," she added.

The 11 designers, working across womenswear, accessories, fine jewellery and millinery, were chosen by a judging panel including the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland.

Ms Hennessy added: “Through the Irish Design 2015 programme, we are seeing real commercial opportunities emerge."

In February, ID2015 presented In The Fold, an exhibition of work by eight emerging Irish designers during London Fashion Week at the International Fashion Showcase organised by the British Council and the British Fashion Council.

ID2015 is also partnering with London Design Festival from September 19 – 27 to present The Ogham Wall at the V&A as part of a landmark project designed by Grafton Architects.
