BRITAIN’s only Michelin-starred brothers will go head to head this month as diners choose which chef serves up the tastiest plates over a three course lunch menu.
Chris and Jeff Galvin will do battle next week, during the second annual Galvin Festival of Food & Drink, at a lunch sitting at their flagship Bistro De Luxe restaurant in London.
The pair - the sons of a Co. Cork man - will show off their brotherly competitiveness on Wednesday, May 21, as afternoon diners at the Baker Street venue select from the ‘Chris v Jeff’ menu and rate their dishes to help decide the winner.
The competition takes place within a week-long festival which kicks off on Monday, May 19 and includes different daily events at venues within the Galvin family’s seven restaurant culinary empire.
Only in its second year, the Galvin brothers - who consistently win awards for their top notch French cuisine – launched the festival in 2013 to ‘celebrate’ making it through the recession.
“This festival is about celebrating what we have and what we have achieved over the past few years,” Chris told The Irish Post.
“We have come through the years of recession, which have been tough on everybody, but we have seen that people still have the appetite to go out,” he added.
“They want to go out and eat good food, they might have less money but they won’t stay home and feel fed up about it.”
Proceeds from the festival events will support the brothers’ Galvin’s Choice charity – which offers training and support to disadvantaged young people who are not in education or employment.
The Galvin Festival of Food & Drink 2014 takes place from 19–25 May at their venues across London and Scotland. For further information and full event listings visit www.galvinrestaurants.com
