Alexander Pacteau back in court today over Karen Buckley murder

THE man accused of the murder of Cork student Karen Buckley is expected to appear before a court in Glasgow today.

Alexander Pacteau, 21, will appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court to determine whether he will face a full trial, be granted bail or remanded in custody.

On Friday, April 17 he was charged with the murder of the occupational therapy student, who was killed following a night out with friends.

The 24-year-old, from Mourneabbey in Co. Cork, disappeared from the Sanctuary nightclub, in Glasgow’s west end, in the early hours of April 12.

After a massive search was launched, police found a body on a farm six miles north of the city the following Wednesday – which was later confirmed as that of Ms Buckley.

Pacteau will appear before a private hearing today.
