Cyclist hospitalised with serious injuries following collision with truck

A PENSIONER is in a serious condition in hospital after she collided with a truck while cycling in Co. Kildare.

The incident happened on the R414 at Monasterevin at around 9.50am yesterday morning (August 10).

The woman, who is aged in her 80s, was brought to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin for treatment of “serious injuries”, Gardaí confirmed in a statement.

No other injuries were reported.

The police force has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

“Road users who were travelling in the area of the R414 (Rathangan Road) – known locally as ‘Cow Pastures’ - at Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, on Monday 10th August 2026 between 9.15am and 10.15am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” they said in a statement.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on (045) 527 730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
