Digger used in burglary of Limerick McDonald's restaurant

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating a burglary at a McDonald’s restaurant in the city in which a digger was used.

The incident happened at around 2.50am this morning at the McDonald’s at Castletroy Shopping Centre on the Dublin Road.

The below photograph which was captured by a passer-by this morning shows significant damage to the front of the premises.

It is understood the raiders failed to access the safe before Gardaí arrived.

A number of gang members fled the scene when they realised Gardaí were en route.

Gardaí have cordoned off the area and the digger has since been moved.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
