Dublin petrol station offering free food and shelter for homeless during Storm Dennis

A PETROL STATION shop in Dublin is offering free food, drinks and shelter to the homeless during Storm Dennis.

According to Dublin Live, the Maxol petrol station at Dolphin’s Barn is inviting anyone stuck in the area and exposed to the elements to come into their shop.

They will find staff there ready to help with hot drinks and sandwiches will be available to anyone at the mercy of the weather.

This kind gesture comes amid warnings from Met Eireann that Ireland is set to be battered by Storm Dennis for much of the weekend with strong winds and torrential rain forecast across the country.

The shop urged Dublin Live to spread the word to anyone without a place to go who may be affected by the current onslaught of wet and windy weather.

"We are offering free hot drinks and sandwiches to the homeless and shelter from the weather during Storm Dennis,” they said.

"So spread the word if you know of anyone stuck without shelter around the Crumlin/Dolphin's Barn area.

"Point them in our direction where our staff will look after them until the storm passes."

With forecasts predicting severe and damaging gusts alongside potential thunderstorms and flooding, the public are being urged to remain indoors while the bad weather passes.
