Gardai in Dublin deliver 200 Easter eggs donated to children’s hospital

GARDAI HAVE delivered 200 Easter eggs which have been donated to patients at a children’s hospital in Dublin.

Officers from Clondalkin passed on an impressive haul of chocolate treats to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

The sweets were donated by a local sports club and another business which was not named, to try and raise spirits over Easter Weekend.

With many of the children at the hospital facing serious illness and an extended period of time away from home, the chocolate eggs will provide some much-needed respite.

The delivery is just the latest example of how Garda are going above and beyond to see Ireland through the current coronavirus lockdown.

While much of the country remains indoors at home, officers have been providing much-needed support to the most vulnerable in society.

From walking guide dogs while their owner cocoons, to fixing central heating systems and delivering shopping and medicine, the Gardai have played a key role in fostering a sense of community spirit throughout these testing times.

Their efforts have not gone unnoticed either, with several children writing in to say thank you to the officers on duty during this time.

Along with handwritten thank you notes, Garda have been inundated with gifts of sweets, biscuits, chocolate and crisps to help get them through each and every shift.

Now those same officers are passing on more sweet treats to the brave young souls over at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital – Happy Easter to each and every one of them.
