Gardaí go door-to-door in Dublin immigrant community over mystery murder of man, 49, in park

GARDAÍ investigating the murder of a man in a South Dublin park last week are appealing to the capital's Romanian community for information.

Ioan Arten Bob, 49, was found unresponsive in Sean Walsh Memorial Park, Tallaght by a passer-by at 8.30am on Friday.

The Romanian national was rushed to Tallaght Hospital with head and chest injuries but passed away on Friday afternoon.

Gardaí believe Ioan, who had recently been working in the construction industry in Carrickmines, died as a result of an assault.

No motive has been established for the attack and it is unclear whether any weapons were used.

Ioan is understood to have an eight-year-old child who lives in Romania.

Gardaí do not know where he was living in Ireland and are appealing to the Romanian community for assistance.

Door-to-door enquiries were conducted in the Springfield area of Tallaght over the weekend in a bid to establish more information about the victim.

In a statement, gardaí said: "The last confirmed sighting of Ioan was at 8.30pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018, in the Moore Street area.

"He was discovered injured in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght at 8.30am on Friday, April 13, and he died later at Tallaght Hospital."
