Ireland’s luckiest county revealed, boasting most National Lottery and Winning Streak winners

IRELAND'S luckiest county in terms of National Lottery and Winning Streak winners has been revealed.

With the National Lottery paying out more than €440million in prizes last year, a staggering 47 winners came from Dublin – twice the number of the next most successful county.

According to the Sun, winners from the capital shared a total of €128,592,689 in prize money from the twice weekly draws in 2017 (an average of €2.74million each).

Cork had the next highest number of winners with 19, but they shared just €4,136,126 (an average of €217,691 each).

While Mayo only had seven winners, their winnings totaled €31,429,907 (an average of €4.49million each).

Meanwhile on the TV show Winning Streak, where prize money is funded by the National Lottery, Dublin also came out on top.

There were seven winners from Dublin, more than any other county, winning a total of €331,000.

The county was also home to the biggest Winning Streak winner, Tom Wynne, who walked away with €73,000.

Meanwhile of Ireland’s three big EuroMillions wins in 2017, two were from Dublin.

In January last year, a work syndicate won €88.5million, while in December a family syndicate scooped €38.9million.
