Irish girl, 8, sends adorable thank you letter to Dr Holohan & asks if he can reopen zoo for her birthday

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Irish girl has sent a delightful postcard to Dr Tony Holohan, thanking him for his work and asking him for a rather heart-warming birthday request.

Young Cora, from Tipperary, spoke of how happy she was that her dad was working at home, before asking if the zoo could be reopened in time for her ninth birthday.

The postcard was shared on twitter by Fergal Bowers, RTE's health correspondent, who said he would be handing it to Dr Holohan, Ireland's Chief Medical Officer.

"One of the most heartwarming postcard messages, in the COVID-19 crisis, from an 8 year old girl from Tipperary," Bowers wrote on Tuesday.

The post has since been liked and shared over a thousand since then.

"Dear Doctor Holohan," the little girl wrote.

"I would like to thank you for all you are doing. You are doing a great job.

"My granny is upset as she cannot get her hair done! I love that my daddy has to work from home.

"Can you re-open the zoo before my birthday?

"Thank you. We are all proud of you."

Cora didn't say specifically when her birthday was, so with a bit of luck, her request might well be granted. Here's hoping.
