Irish tourist, 19, seriously injured following almost 40 foot fall

A teenager holidaying in Spain has been hospitalised after the incident.

The male, believed to be Irish, was on the fourth or fifth floor of a building in Santa Ponsa in Mallorca before he fell a distance of 39 feet.

He fell at approximately 4 am on Tuesday morning from one of the Vista Club apartments on Nuno Sanz street in Santa Ponsa.

Authorities were alerted to the scene, as police, two ambulances and the Civil Guard rushed to the scene to treat the teenager for his injuries.

The 19-year-old was brought to San Espases hospital and is believed to have suffered a serious head injury.

The name of the teenager has not yet been made known.

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation into the circumstances which led to the tourist's fall.
