Irish woman jailed for criminal damage to packet of Pringles

AN IRISH woman has been sentenced to two months in prison after causing criminal damage to a packet of Pringles.

Kathleen McDonagh, 25, of Inchera Close, Cork opened the €1.50 snack before she had paid for it, reports BBC News.

She was barred from the Tesco store at Mahon Point shopping centre, so opened the tube after being asked to leave so that staff would have to let her pay it.

However gardaí told the court that as Ms McDonagh was barred, she had no permission to be in the store.

Opening the crisps after being asked to leave therefore amounted to criminal damage, as they couldn’t be resold.

McDonagh, who has previous convictions for theft and criminal damage, was jailed for four months, with two months suspended.

The incident occurred almost two years ago, on December 27, 2016.
