Leo Varadkar has drink thrown in his face by woman in park while giving TV interview

TÁNAISTE LEO Varadkar has had a drink thrown in his face as he was speaking in front of cameras in a park in Dublin.

A video of the incident, which occurred this afternoon, has spread across social media, with many condemning the unidentified woman's actions.

In the video, the former Taoiseach can be seen speaking in front of cameras when he is approached by a woman in a mask who is holding a skateboard.

She throws a drink in his face before turning and running away.

The Fine Gael leader can be seen trying to dry himself off before the video cuts off.

There is little official information available regarding the incident, however many have been quick to condemn the incident, with Newstalk journalist Darren Cleary writing:

"You can dislike Leo Varadkar, you can criticise his policies, you can disagree with him, but this is [a] nasty and unnecessary thing to do."

2018 Irish Presidential candidate Gavin Duffy shared another video of the incident from a different angle and wrote:

"What a horribly uncouth thing to do to Tánaiste Leo Varadkar.

"This is an attack on our democracy not him. It's reported it was coffee but it could have been anything including acid. We need to better protect our politicians."

Mr Varadkar or Fine Gael have yet to comment on the incident.
