Male motorcyclist in his 50s tragically dies in collision in Co. Down

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co. Down.

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Sunday on the Fathom Line in Newry.

The male motorcyclist, aged in his 50s, was travelling alone when the incident occurred.

Mickey Brady, Sinn Féin MP for Newry and Armagh, said the community had been left saddened by the incident.

“News of yet another tragic death on our roads has deeply saddened the local community,” he said.

“Any death on our roads is one to many.

“I want to express my sympathy to the family and friends of the man who has lost his life.”

The PSNI have asked anyone who was travelling on the Fathom Line and who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage of the incident, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference 621 23/09/18.
