Man in 40's found dead in laneway in Kerry

A MAN in his 40's has been found dead in a laneway in Killarney, Co. Kerry.

The man is believed to have been a foreign national who had been sleeping rough in the town.

According to Radio Kerry, he was discovered in an unresponsive state in the Fairhill area of the town, just before lunchtime yesterday.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Kerry and a post-mortem examination was carried out today.

Gardai are awaiting the results of the post-mortem, but are not treating the death as suspicious.

Radio Kerry also stated that the man is understood to have not been in contact with local homeless services and was not known by Kerry County Council.
