Man suffers ‘head injuries including possible stab injuries’ in shocking Dublin attack

A MAN has been hospitalised in Dublin after suffered serious head injuries in a brutal attack.

The man, in his 20s, is said to be being treated for possible stab injuries following the incident.

He was attacked in the Poppintree area of Ballymun in Dublin at around 8.45pm on the evening of Tuesday, May 11.

Though the man is said to be being treated for head injuries, it has not yet been confirmed as to whether these are related to the stab injuries reported.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on Tuesday evening with the man subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

He is currently at Mater Hospital where his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

In the meantime, Gardai have opened an investigation into the attack.

No arrests have yet been made but enquiries into the circumstances around the attack are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating an assault incident that occurred in the Poppintree area of Ballymun on 11/05/2021 at approximately 8:45pm.

"A male, aged in his 20s, suffered head injuries including possible stab injuries.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital where his injuries are understood to be non-life threatening.

"Investigations are ongoing."
