New committee for Fianna Fáil London as they gear up for Árd Fheis

FIANNA Fáil’s London branch has elected a new Central Officer Board ahead of next month’s Árd Fheis.

Three new officers were chosen by party members at the organisation’s AGM, which took place in the headquarters of the Liberal Democrats on Great George Street, on Friday, March 27.

Following the vote, Dublin native Tony Kelly now takes up the chairperson role for the London group, while Donegal man Laurence Crossan will be its treasurer for the upcoming year.

Audrey Eager, from Dublin, was elected secretary at the meeting and also secured the nomination to run for a position on the party's committee at the Árd Fheis.

Fifteen committee members will be elected by the Árd Chomhairle at the party’s conference next month, tasked with representing Fianna Fáil on matters not provided for by its constitution.

If successful, Ms Eager will take up a seat on the committee by the end of April.

“I am very grateful of the trust that other members of the Fianna Fáil party are placing in me to run in this election,” said Ms Eager. “I am standing on the Diaspora platform under that banner of ‘Bringing I Back Home’.”

Also discussed at the AGM were core issues for Fianna Fáil’s British wing, including upcoming referendum topics in Ireland and a motion that they have submitted to the Árd Fheis relating to voting rights for the Diaspora.

The Fianna Fáil Árd Fheis will be held in the RDS, Dublin on 24th and 25th April 2015.
