Pair bailed as investigation continues into house fire that claimed lives of four children

A MAN and woman arrested by police investigating a house fire in which four young children died have been bailed.

The 24-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were arrested on Friday on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence following Tuesday’s blaze in Staffordshire, England.

They were bailed last night while enquiries continue, with police saying they are living at an address out of the area.

Siblings Riley Holt, aged eight, Keegan Unitt, aged six, Tilly Rose Unitt, aged four, and three-year-old Olly Unitt died in the blaze at Sycamore Lane in Highfields, Stafford.

Staffordshire Police have urged people to refrain from speculation in relation to the fire.

“We understand this incident has had a huge impact on the community in Highfields and beyond and we appreciate there will continue to be demand for information,” said a police statement.

“We urge people not to speculate as to what may have happened.

“We are grateful for the community’s ongoing support and patience as the investigation continues.

“We will provide further updates as soon as we are able to.”
