Saoirse Ronan, Hozier and Rory McIlroy make Forbes 30 Under 30 list

IRISH stars of stage, screen and sport are gracing the inaugural European Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2016.

The US magazine publishes its annual influencers list each year – but 2016 marks the first time it has produced a separate list for European influencers.

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, professional golfer Rory McIlroy and Wicklow-born singer Hozier all appeared on the list; along with third-generation Irishman Ed Sheeran.

Ronan, 21, has been a firm fixture of the 2016 awards season, having already picked up nominations for the Golden Globe and Academy Awards for Best Actress for her portrayal of Eilis Lacey in the film adaption of Colm Toibín’s Brooklyn.

Grammy nominee Hozier, 25, burst onto the music scene in 2013 with his debut single Take Me to Church and went on to top charts around the world with his album.

McIlroy, 26, is currently the fourth most successful golfer in world history, having held the number one spot in the Official Golf World Rankings for 95 weeks.

A panel of experts, including TV personality Kelly Osborne and athlete Kelly Holmes, scoured the continent for the most influential stars of sport, music, film and television to include on the list.

British acts Adele and FKA Twigs also appear on the list, along with Swedish rising star Alicia Vikander, who, like Ronan, will be up for an Oscar next month.
