DECTECTIVES working on the Karen Buckley murder investigation are appealing for information to identify a potential witness.
A statement from Police Scotland today read: “Around 12.30am on Sunday,12 April 2015 a young woman was seen on Dumbarton Road near to the Gallus Pub before walking along Church Street.
“She then got into a Hackney taxi on Byres Road which drove off towards Great Western Road.
“The woman is described as between 18 and 25-years-old with long brown straight hair.
"She was wearing a short pink coloured dress, a fur jacket and was carrying a large brown shoulder bag.”
Detective Superintendent Jim Kerr said: “Our extensive review of CCTV has identified this young lady near to the Sanctuary Nightclub and the footage indicates that she may have information that could assist with our investigation.
"I must stress that she is in no way connected with the death of Karen but she may have information that could assist with the investigation."
He added: "I can assure you that the public's trust is of paramount importance to Police Scotland and all information passed to us will be treated in the utmost confidence."
Karen Buckley, a nurse from Cork, was studying in Scotland when she was killed.
Alexander Pacteau, a 21-year-old man from Glasgow, has been charged with her murder.
Police have appealed to the woman in the CCTV footage or anyone that know her to get in touch with the incident room on 0141 532 5443.
